Caring for Your New Tattoo

Our artists take extreme care in creating and applying your tattoo. Ensuring your tattoo continues to look great depends on taking the proper care to help it through the healing process. Your friends may have received specific advice that pertains to them and their tattoo, but that does not mean that it will also apply to you and your tattoo. We recommend you follow these post-appointment steps or consult with your artist regarding any questions or concerns you may have.
Leave your bandage on for 1-2 hours after your appointment. Once you remove the bandage, wash your tattoo with a mild antibacterial soap and warm to hot water. After cleaned, rinse with cold water and pat dry with a clean towel. There will be no need to rebandage it after this.
Apply a THIN layer of artist recommended ointment 2-3 times a day for 2-3 days. After, you will switch to an unscented lotion (no perfumes or dyes), applying a thin later 2-3 times a day to keep your tattoo moisturized.
To keep your tattoo clean, wash it daily. You will want to AVOID chlorine, salt water, and direct sunlight for 7-14 days (no baths, hot tubs, swimming pools, lakes, etc.).
Your tattoo will itch while it is healing. DO NOT pick or scratch at it. If a scab forms, leave it alone and let it heal on its own. Tattoos will heal like a sunburn, meaning it may peel or flake. This is normal.
Tattoos can take anywhere from 2 weeks to a month to heal. They will go through a phase where they appear lighter and shiny. This is normal.
